About Rachael Groffsky

Rachael grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan and received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. She then attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School and obtained her Juris Doctorate. During all three years of law school, Rachael interned at the Eaton County Prosecutors Office. This is where the love of criminal law blossomed. After graduating law school, Rachael moved to western North Carolina where she started her law career with Legal Aid of North Carolina, representing plaintiffs in protective order cases involving domestic violence. At the beginning of 2010, Rachael transitioned to being a prosecutor where she prosecuted both misdemeanors and felony cases in the 30th Judicial District for five years. Rachael then moved to Asheville, North Carolina where she was the Domestic Violence/Sex Crimes prosecutor for almost two years. There, she prosecuted both child and adult sex crimes and felony domestic violence cases. In addition to this role, Rachael assisted in her capacity as a prosecutor in the planning and opening of the Family Justice Center in Asheville – a one stop center for victims and families involved in sex crimes or domestic violence matters.
Life took Rachael to Atlanta, Georgia in 2016 where she became a prosecutor in the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit for four years, eventually becoming a managing attorney over a trial division. In January 2021, Rachael went to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office as a supervising attorney over the Trial Unit for almost a year.
At the end of 2021, Rachael decided to open private practice in Gwinnett County, specializing in all areas of criminal law, including but not limited to traffic offenses, misdemeanor offenses, felony offenses, probation violations, and record restrictions. Rachael has participated in thousands of criminal pleas, motions hearings, probation violations, and over fifty jury trials in her career including murder and other serious felonies. Rachael has also participated as a teacher in numerous police officer trainings and has significant experience with diversion programs such as the Pretrial Intervention and Diversion programs and Accountability Courts. Rachael also proudly acts in the capacity of Assistant Solicitor for the City of Norcross, prosecuting traffic offenses and code ordinance violations.
In her spare time, Rachael enjoys cooking, traveling the world, loving on her animals, and being outdoors.
